The feature class is a deliverable of the Shoreline and Critical Areas (CAR) Update (5531895037) by Parametrix Inc. The project manager was Margaret Clancy. She no longer works for Parametrix Inc. Streams that identified through project development or wetland deleniation, they are added, altered, or deleted from this dataset.
<DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"><DIV><DIV><P><SPAN>This feature class includes streams digitized from Parametrix field inventory of 2003 and those added using AutoCAD drawings submitted as deliverables from a project site or other environmental work. Streams inventoried as part of City projects that have their information delivered as shapefiles or ACAD drawings are added to the feature class. Periodically PC Streams is referenced as is the 2017 Contour feature class. During the March 2019 update, Josh Grbich in Collections, was consulted as he has formidable knowledge of City drainage. </SPAN></P><P><SPAN>Also, during the March 2019 update several streams were removed with information provided by Josh Grbich. Using PC's 2017 Contours, some stream channels were altered to follow topography correctly. As part of this update, the direction of flow was established using known information and input from the Collections Department. Direction of flow was corrected in many cases. This feature class can now be used for networking with other feature classes with flow. </SPAN></P></DIV></DIV></DIV>
Individuals wanting to know the location of streams in the Urban Growth Area (UGA) and incorporated city limits of Puyallup will find this feature class useful. This feature class represents stream centerlines only. Direction of flow was corrected March 2019 so that this feature class can be used for geometric networking.

Streams were digitized using Parametrix's field inventory during the 2003 CA update. This dataset is supplemental to the Final Critical Areas and Shoreline Inventory Report prepared for the City of Puyallup by Parametrix Inc., dated December 2003. In February 2007 city staff added omitted streams and shifted those found to be digitized offset from their position found on 2001 orthophotos. In August 2010 those streams found to align with storm drainage features were snapped to the appropriate feature (ditches or culverts for example).
During project development if streams are found to be onsite these streams are inventoried and existing data updated, added, or amended appropriately.

Critical Areas Update 2002-2003
City of Puyallup Urban Growth Area and within the City of Puyallup proper.
The data was table digitized using field markings on an orthophoto base map provided by the City of Puyallup. The base maps were plotted at a scale of 1 inch = 200 feet. The data was registered within 2 feet of positional accuracy for table digitization. Streams added after the inventory were hand digitized from 2001 Orthophotos at a scale of 1:50 feet. As properties with streams are developed the project deliverables, either AutoCAD drawings or shapefiles of the stream(s), are used to update this dataset. In August 2010 the streams were overlain the storm drainage features. Where the streams flowed in line with drainage features they were adjusted accordingly.
Since 2010 all data added or changed occured as a result of environmental reports submitted by land owners' consultants or city hired project consultants. Land owners were seeking a land use action which required environmental work due to PMC 21.06. AutoCAD drawings were sumbitted and data pulled which resulted in changes to streams. Shapefiles are also used when submitted a project deliverables. During the March 2019 update several streams were removed with knowledge provided by the Collections Department. Using PC's 2017 Contours, some stream channels were altered to follow topography correctly. As part of this update, the direction of flow was established using known information and input from the Collections Department. Direction of flow was corrected in many cases. This feature class can now be used for networking with other feature classes with flow.
