<idPurp>The purpose of the planimetrics data is to provide County departments with a high quality image of the buildings and other features in the County. All County departments plan to use the photography for applications from tax assessment to search and rescue. </idPurp>
<idAbs>&lt;DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"&gt;&lt;DIV&gt;&lt;DIV&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Planimetrics are building outlines, sidewalks outlines, etc. created using orthophotos. The 2011 planimetrics and 2014 building footprints were used as a base for the 2017 planimetrics. The 2017 planimetrics were updated using digital orthophotography that was flown in July 2017. The orthos have been registered to the terrain at National Map Accuracy standards. Planimetrics has been licensed to the County by Sanborn Mapping Company, Inc. The license agreement only allows certain organizations to directly access the data. Any of the data can be produced in paper copy and distributed to the public. Digital copies of the data are not permitted. Users should note the scale of photography (1:900) and use the data appropriately. Please also note that the orthos have a better horizontal accuracy than some of the current GIS data in County View. The vertical datum for this data is North American Vertical Datum of 1988. If you are using NAD 29 as your vertical datum the elevations are going to be 3.5 feet too high and you will need to lower the elevation by 3.5 ft. &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/DIV&gt;&lt;/DIV&gt;&lt;/DIV&gt;</idAbs>

<suppInfo>Some features will be obscured by trees, tree lean, shadow, and building lean. Users can adjust the image color to "brighten" the images. Users can expect to be able to clearly see buildings, roads and any feature over 2 feet in size (1:800 scale photos). Features under 2 feet in size such as manhole covers, drainage inlets or culverts may not be clearly distinguishable and only about 60% of these features can be interpreted from the photos. Standard aerial mapping technology was used to photograph the County (sun angle, time of day, cloud cover, moisture). The survey control is based on Pierce County monuments and supplemented with additional points. Airborne GPS was used to bridge between controls. The images were mosaicked, color balanced and fitted to the terrain model using Sanborn proprietary software. This automated process makes a best fit of the images and smoothes the color and features between images. Bridges and overhead structures were adjusted to show true geometry (straight overpasses). The data was quality controlled by GIS to check for image quality and positional accuracy using ArcGIS software and GPS. </suppInfo>
