<DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"><DIV><DIV><P><SPAN>This feature class contains water line information for the water system within the City of Puyallup which carries water provided by the City of Puyallup. There are other water systems within the city limits and its urban growth area. No other city water system features, such as valves, pressure reducing stations, etc. are shown in this data set.</SPAN></P></DIV></DIV></DIV>
This feature class was developed for the sole use of City of Puyallup employees in GIS applications. The data can be overlain orthophotos or other data sets for informational purposes. Locational accuracy is not guaranteed because the source data for this shapefile has not been GPS'd. Further water line research may be necessary and such inquiries should be made of the Water Distrubition. May 2019 the Year_Installed field was added to track the age and year installed of the pipe. During the May 2019 update the following fields were also added: Jurisdiction, Lead Joint, Service_Line and Inactive. These were added for inclusion of data into Cartegraph.

The source of this data layer is the Water.dwg, an AutoCAD Map 3D 2010 drawing maintained by Water Distribution.

Between 2000 and 2019 the source data was kept in AutoCAD Map. All AutoCAD layers that did not pertain to water lines were removed. The .dwg was exported out of AutoCAD Map as a shapefile which was imported into GIS. The previous water line layer file was used for symbolization and the metadata updated. Current available aerial photos were used in the past to hand draw water lines as the lines and other water features were not GPS'd. As new lines were installed they were added to the AutoCAD .dwg. The orthophotos were brought into the AutoCAD .dwg and from measurements the water line features were more appropriately placed. Beginning in 2011 Water Distribution began identifying pipe materials. In May 2019 the original source data was converted to a file geodatabase and a 'Year_field' was added. This field was added to track the age and year installion of the pipe. The following fields were added during the May 2019 update as well. They are: Jurisdiction, Lead Joint, Service_Line and Inactive. These were added for inclusion of data into Cartegraph.
