Orthophotography, contours, the City's 1991 Wetland Inventory, the National Wetland Inventory and the County's Wetland Inventory were used as sources for compiling this inventory of wetlands. Pierce County also contributed what they gathered as part of the work they did for Buildable Lands inventory. New wetlands are added or previously identified unverified wetlands are updated when wetland reports are recieved. Accompanying ACAD files are used by importing them into the database to ensure positional accuracy of work. A few consultants have begun delivering data in shapefile format. Over time these delineated wetlands and their buffers provided as project deliverables have been added.

Originally Parametirx field inventoried wetlands between July 2002 and April 2003 as a dataset deliverable for the Shoreline and Critical Areas (CAR) update. Since 2003 wetlands added were based upon wetland reports and digital data deliverables submitted to Development Services as land is developed or altered.</SPAN></P></DIV></DIV></DIV>
Individuals wanting to know the location, extent and type of wetlands in the Urban Growth Area (UGA) and incorporated city limits of Puyallup will find this dataset useful.

Recent wetland sources: Wetland deleneations submitted as a requirement of project submittal. Several older wetland source datasets were referenced; Buildable Lands Wetland Inventory, Source: Pierce County [To be verified by City of Puyallup], created in 2001 1991 Puyallup Wetland Inventory, Source: Parametrix Inc. (Part of the 1991 wetland inventory conducted by Parametrix Inc.) Pierce County Wetland Inventory, Source: Pierce County, created in December 2002 Wetlands from these datasets that still existed were added to the new dataset and wetland boundaries revised using Parametrix's field inventory. This dataset is supplemental to the Final Critical Areas Shoreline Report prepared for the City of Puyallup by Parametrix Inc., dated December 2003.

City of Puyallup: AutoCAD renderings of delienation and buffers were imported and shifted to match Pierce County tax parcel layer if discrepencies were found between the AutoCAD drawing parcel boundaries and Pierce County's tax parcel layer. Parametrix:: The data was table digitized using field markings on an orthophoto base map provided by the City of Puyallup. The base maps were plotted at a scale of 1 inch = 200 feet. The data was registered within 2 feet of positional accuracy for table digitization.

Consultants have begun using GIS software to map their field data. As reports are submitted and approved the consultants have been providing their data for inclusion into the City's wetland inventory.
Wetlands and buffers were hand digitized in ArcGIS using the AutoCAD drawings as positional refences. New fields were added (Category, Habitat, Report) and additional attribute domain values were also added.
Since 2003 AutoCAD .dwg or .dxf drawings were requested as project deliverables before permit issuance. These drawings are imported into GIS as a means of obtaining positional accuracy of the known wetland/buffer.
