<descript>
This shapefile identifies water lines, maintained by the City of Puyallup's Water Division, that have temporary development restrictions or residential fire flow deficiencies. Development restrictions are imposed on water lines that are incapable of handling additional water services because the facilities in these areas do not meet the City's standards for flow and/or pressure. These lines fall within an area known as the Temporary Water Service Moratorium Areas (WSMA). These areas are outlined under the Service Area Policies in the April 2011 Comprehensive Water System Plan adopted by Ordinance #3000 effective February 20, 2012. Residential Fire Flow Deficiency locations are identified as areas that typically do not meet the residential fire flow requirements because the water mains in the area of the fire flow are undersized (6 inch or less). Fire flow deficiency areas were identified in 2008 and were included in the updated May 2004 Comprehensive Water System Plan. The water lines/locations are identified as having temporary restrictions because in time as funding allows these areas will be upgraded to meet City standards.
<purpose>The purpose of this shapefile is to accurately show the locations of water lines that fall under the Temporary Water Service Moratorium Area and/or that have been identified as having Residential Fire Flow Deficiencies.</purpose>
<supplinf>This feature class was created at the request and cooperation of, Colleen Harris, Development Engineering Manager, and Criag Hale, Water (Division) System Supervisor. The data contained within this feature class were compiled using information from the Water Department's Comprehensive Water System Plan and Water Lines - Puyallup shapefile.</supplinf>

<procdesc>City of Puyallup Water Lines (.shp) was used as the base to locate the lines identified as Temporary WSMA lines or Residential Fire Flow Deficiency lines. These lines were highlighted and extracted as a separated feature class. This way the line size and other water line data would be retained for reference. A field was added whereby the lines were then individually identifed as Temporary WSMA or Residential Fire Flow Deficiency. The data was mapped and the map sent to Colleen Harris and Criag Hale for review and comment. The data was finalized after comments were recieved and changes made. After Ordinance #3000 was adopted, adopting the Comprehensive System Plan, the data was published.</procdesc>

<idPurp>The purpose of this shapefile is to accurately show the locations of water lines that fall under the Temporary Water Service Moratorium Area and/or that have been identified as having Residential Fire Flow Deficiencies.</idPurp>
<idAbs>

Fire flow deficiency areas were identified in 2008 and were included in the May 2004 Comprehensive Water System Plan. The water lines/locations are identified as having temporary restrictions because in time as funding allows these areas will be upgraded to meet City standards.

</idAbs>

<stepDesc>City of Puyallup Water Lines (.shp) was used as the base to locate the lines identified as Temporary WSMA lines or Residential Fire Flow Deficiency lines. These lines were highlighted and extracted to a separate shapefile. After Ordinance #3000 was adopted on February 20, 2012, adopting the April 2011 Comprehensive System Plan, the data was published.</stepDesc>
